Frequently Asked Questions

How do I let the school know about medical and hospital appointments?

If the appointment can’t be organised outside of school hours, then please email proof of your appointment to the school office. This should state the date, time, and type of appointment e.g. hospital, doctors etc. Alternatively, please bring a copy of the letter to the school office.

How will the school let me know if it is closed due to snow?

Whilst the school is determined to always stay open, severe inclement weather such as snow can mean that it isn’t safe for pupils to be in school. On these rare occasions the school uses Class Dojo, their website, their X feed, and direct texting to all those who have registered mobile numbers.

What should I expect at parents’ evening?

Parents evenings take place once per term; October, February and an open evening in July.

October and February operate with early and late evening appointments, available on a first come first served basis.
You will be able to see your child’s books and pre-book a 10 minute slot to talk to your child’s teacher about how your child is getting on. It’s a chance to hear from the teacher, as well as to ask any questions you have. When the time comes, appointments can be made via our online bookings system.

July is a drop in evening, where you can see the showcase of work on offer and discuss your child’s end of year school report if you choose to. It is also a great opportunity to meet your child’s new class teacher.

How can I find out what’s going on in school in advance so I can plan ahead of time?

The best way to keep up to date with all things Anna Seward is through the Class Dojo app. Not only will this give regular updates of teaching and learning in your child’s class but it also sends timely reminders of upcoming events.

At the end of each month, you will receive a Newsletter, with a list of all the events for the next few weeks. In addition, at the beginning of the academic year, a letter with term dates and holidays is given out, as well as a letter listing the assemblies for the year. Class DoJo will have key dates and will send push notifications as reminders.

Can I take my child out of school during school holidays?

Holidays are not authorised during term time. Absences are only authorised by the Head of School in exceptional circumstances.

What should I do if my child is unwell and can’t come to school?

Please email or phone the school office first thing in the morning to let them know, otherwise school will contact you once the register highlights your child’s absence after 9.30am. If we do not receive notification of your child’s absence and are unable to make a contact, we will complete a home visit/safe and well check.
